Information on Equal Pay for UK Women

What do you know about Equal Pay and the labour laws in the United Kingdom (UK)? Find out on wageindicator.co.uk about equal pay rights for men and women, fair work pay rates, high paying jobs for women, women in the workforce etc.

The days of women being paid less than men should be well behind us, but wage inequality is alive and well in many workplaces. What should you do if you suspect the man at the desk next to you is being paid more than you?

By law, employers have to pay men and women the same wage for doing the same job.

The first step to making sure you are getting equal pay is to find out how much men doing the same or similar jobs to you are getting paid. The easiest way to do this is simply to ask to see their pay slip.

But if this isn't on the cards, you now have an alternative way of getting the information. You can ask your employer to fill out a questionnaire to explain and justify any differences between your pay and your male colleagues.

If you are not satisfied with the response from your employer, then you can take your complaint to an employment tribunal. The Equal Opportunities Commission will provide you with advice.
