Minimum Wage in the UK and the cost of living across cities

3 June 2021 – The national minimum wage in the United Kingdom is £1851.85 per month.  The cost of living in Brighton is £1300. In comparison the cost of living in London, which happens to be the most expensive place to live in, is £1600 per month. People earning minimum wage spend around 86% of their income. This leaves a lot less for saving. A one-bedroom flat averages £758 in the city per month. This is approximately half of one’s salary.
